New England American Studies Association (NEASA)

I have been a council member of the New England American Studies Association since 2015 and served as president from 2019 to 2020. I have helped to organize a number of events for NEASA, including the 2019 Fall Colloquium, “Visualizing Possibilities in American Culture,” hosted in partnership with Roxbury Community College. As president of NEASA, I worked with council members and with faculty from RCC to organize and promote the event, which had more than 55 registered attendees.

Hamel Scholars Program Coordinator

At the University of New Hampshire, I was coordinator for the Hamel Scholars Program, a scholarship awarded to 40+ students for academic excellence, leadership, and service. The group had regular meetings throughout the year to plan a major service project for the spring. As coordinator, I worked closely with the Honors Program Director and with the UNH Foundation to support the selection of Hamel Scholars, to organize an orientation for new members of the program, and to plan Hamel Scholar luncheons with faculty, administration, and university donors. I also organized a field trip for Hamel Scholars to see Supreme Court Justice David Souter speak with PBS reporter Margaret Warner about civics education.

Assistant Managing Editor, Post Road Magazine

Post Road is a national literary magazine published in partnership with the Boston College department of English. As assistant managing editor, I was in charge of the magazine’s online submission system for Issues #18, #19, and #20. I worked with the Managing Editor, Interns, Readers, and Section Editors to distribute and respond to several hundred submissions. I also attended the AWP Conference and the Boston Book Festival to promote the magazine.
